It was so COSI... haha get it? Cozy?

COSI, what does that even mean? Just wondering aloud, if anyone has an answer for it that would be grrrrrreat. I enjoyed this week’s meal. Reason: President Simon eats there. As I was waiting for E May and our special guests Emma Donnay and Emma Rector, (pictured below) our president was walking out of COSI and she looked satisfied.

So COSI has star power. This week I got the BBQ pizza and it was pretty good. It was topped with chicken, BBQ sauce, red onion, and cilantro. Overall it was a good pizza (8 little bit sized slices). My only complaint was the cilantro. Whoever made it went a little cilantro crazy. I think that is a powerful spice and it took away from the other flavors. It was so strong that I had to pick it off my pizza. The atmosphere was again hectic, but that was due to the lunch hour rush. Go there at any other time he you are guaranteed a seat. I am actually pretty partial to their set up. They had these couch things which were very comfortable to sit on. When there aren’t tons of people in there the couches make the atmosphere very relaxing.
The moment you’ve been waiting for:

Place: COSI
Time: 12:10pm
Date: October 6
Food: BBQ Chicken Pizza (8 mini rectangle slices)
Value: 2 (COSI is expensive. I paid around 7 bucks for my mini pizza)
Service: 5 (The service was too legit for a little sammich shop. They were very helpful and polite. I asked them what I should get and they were very helpful when it came to making my decision. The lady also asked if I wanted to refill my bottle of water. They also offer free refills on pop and lemonade. Which is awesome because lemonade is apparently expensive)
Taste: 3 (Too much cilantro)
Time: 4.5 (It was busy and I got my food fairly quickly)
Presentation: 4 (Take a look and tell me that doesn’t look yummy)

Avg: 3.7

10 things i love about cosi:
numba one: they have delicious food and it is fresh and wonderful and has great flavor!
numba two: FREE FLATBREAD SAMPLES. WARM, DELICIOUS, FLATBREAD!!!!
numba three: lovely little mojito (sans alcohol) lemonades!
numba four: it was so cosi (hehe play on words) and had such a lovely atmosphere. comfy little couches and cute tables.
numba five: frequency card! i love these babies on account of the free reward at the end!
numba six: the nice guy at the counter! the last time i went and this time i got the same guy. he is so nice and jolly! he also likes to make legit suggestions so if you are confused about what to get you can ask him and he will hook you up! and he said my name! he was like emma do you need your receipt? and i was like no but using my name makes me feel special!
numba seven: the chance of running into fun people! last time i was here i saw my prof from freshman year (she gave me a hug) and this time i saw my student supe from freshman year (she didnt remember me at all!)
numba eight: they bring you your food. i like being able to sit. lets face it, i am lazy. this is nice.
numba nine: location: free parking down the street! across from the places all of my classes take place (haha i mean, most of the things on gr qualify as this but whatever)
numba ten: one tv. at least only one that i saw. i like this aspect because it is like enough to look at for a bit but not distracting and annoying!

anddddddd drumroll..... ratings!

place: cosi
time: 12:10pm
date: october 6
what i got: pesto chicken melt with white flatbread (no multigrain for me!). raspberry mojito lemonade. chips.
value: sad to say but cosi is a little tough on the wallet. i am giving it a 2.5.
service: 4.5. I LOVE MY CASHIER! and they bring the food to you, that part is nice! i didnt leave them a tip, i am sure you could and maybe should but since it is so expensive, i dont.
taste.....bum bum bum MY FIRST 5. yes ladies and gentlemen, it happened. i am strictly referring to my sammich and my lemonade, maybe not the chips (they are good but not a 5). my pesto chicken thing was warm and had great flavor. i loved it.
time: 4, for as busy as it was, they brought my food out in good time. not lightening fast but fairly quickly!
presentation: 4. the lemonade is so pretty! but everything else is fairly simple, their plates are kind of fun and metal-y.

  1. Since I didn't get you my guest ratings in time, here is my 2 cents via comments!

I like Cosi a lot. I was telling other Emma (D) that I used to go to the Ann Arbor Cosi with my mom when I was little and get the same sandwich I had this time (the Turkey and Brie). It is so good.. its just turkey and brie and some kind of spicey mustard on their awesome bread, and the effect is delicious (although I could probably use some tomato and lettuce, personally).
I also told Emma D as we were heading there that if they no longer served the turkey and brie it would fall under one of the top 5 regrets of my life that I didn't go more often to Cosi before they discontinued it. But alas, it was there. And besides, Ann Arbor is a whore and we beat them this weekend.
Anyway, my only complaint about this East Lansing Cosi was the seating. It was crowded, but that I can forgive. My main issue is that I sat in this booth thing that was super low and the back was at a weird angle. In affect, my head was about at the level of the table. Those of you who know me may say to yourselves "Emma's head is always at the level of a table... I bet she needs a phone book to sit on when she drives... she's no bigger than a pepsi can" those kind of things. But I assure you, it's not usually this bad. Therefore I deem Cosi, vertically challanged non-friendly.

    Otherwise, excellent.
